My Experience on AZ-500

Hi Everyone,

Recently I’ve cleared the Az-500 exam with a decent score. I thought of sharing a few words about my experience.

Microsoft has very good documentation of Az-500. For getting an overall perspective of the course, it's helpful to go through these docs for once, and the weightage of the exam changes now and then, and it's updated on their official website as well. I gave my exam on 10th of Feb and it had the following weightage:

Manage identity and access (30–35%)

Implement platform protection (15–20%)

Manage security operations (25–30%)

Secure data and applications (25–30%)

My Exam Preparation:

I previously took the Az-900 exam as well which is Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and an easy one. With the same motto, I thought of clearing Az-500 but due to lack of preparation, I failed in the first attempt. Then I realized that this is a medium-level exam and not so easy. So I changed my preparation mode and followed a step-by-step procedure in clearing it.

First I’ve gone through Microsoft docs to understand the course structure and the basic concepts and after that I’ve purchased an Udemy course on Az-500 preparation which helped me a lot in understanding the concepts. I also took notes of those concepts which helped in refreshing at the last moment.

Eventually after completing the course I’ve done some practise tests provided at the end of course and most importantly it’s good to give a couple of practise tests on-line which will help to understand how to manage time.

THE EXAM:

In exam there are 51 questions including case studies. If the concepts are clear and by applying a bit of logic we will be able to pass the exam. But the answers might be misleading so a bit of concentration and analysis is required while choosing the correct answer. As already told, it’s not too tough and not too easy.

So finally take the exam when you’re fully prepared. All the best for who are on the way to give their exam.
